Please come to the Village Hall at 8pm on Monday, Sept. 22 -- the Architectural & Historic Review Board will make decisions on 68 Main and 19 Livingston Ave. Please attend to show your concern! Strength in numbers!
Steve Tilly submitted an architect letter noting that the development violates the "excessive similiarity" and "excessive dissimilarity" standards in the code. Also, the attorney hired by my family and by Jon Brose's family has submitted a letter with similar points, also attaching appraisals that demonstrate the resulting loss in value to our homes.
By way of reminder, the proposed development consists of 2 nearly identical buildings (each with 6 attached condos and no breaks to view the river) facing Livingston Ave. The buildings are staggered, with one in front of the other, in a way that will entirely block the view of the Hudson river. The important southern gateway to Dobbs Ferry will be irreversibly marred by this gigantic, out of character, non-compliant development. Rather than propose something modest in line with the zoning restrictions that allows views from the street, the developers' latest plans are as troublesome as the last version that was rejected by both AHRB and Zoning Board of Appeals.
Please write emails opposing the development to the Village Clerk (ldreaper@dobbsferry.com) and Building Dept (bcook@dobbsferry.com). Ask that they pass the email to the AHRB members. The request is that the AHRB should uphold the code, find that the development does not meet the code requirements and deny the application.
